The Dakota club downtown Minneapolis https://www.dakotacooks.com/ first opened in the Bandana square in Saint Paul, in 1985. In 1988 the programming expanded to national artists. The It then moved to Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis in 2003. The Dakota has gained a national reputation for jazz music acts.
Is it a dinner show?
Yes, it can be. Or you can simply come for the performance. It features a first-class menu and full bath. It is has the most underrated restaurant in Minneapolis. And the cost is reasonable for the quality.
What kind of acts are there?
I just was there for the BoDeans. Just this last week. They are in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. They play mellow rock and roll. It was a great show.
Food?
They serve dinner and hors’d. We had cheese tray for a starter. And that easily feed two people. Pan roosted gnocchi with Beef Tenderloin. And Day Boat Scallops. Dessert was a wonderfully prepared and presented Flan. All the items were first class and served perfectly.
What are some acts coming up?
The Grammy-nominated band “Kneebody”. The “Manhattan Transfer”. And they have won Grammys for pop and jazz. Rosanne Cash who also has won multiple Grammys. And lastly, the David Sanborn Jazz Quintet. I’m going to this one! He has released 24 albums. Has gone platinum and has won 6 Grammy awards.
In conclusion
What a gem! So, few know of this wonderful place and the quality shows they have. I recommend without any reservation to go there for a show and dinner. It is so intimate, and you are literally 20 feet from the performer!
