Restaurant review of the week- Barley + Wine Kitchen & Bar

 

 

This unique copper exterior, circle restaurant is located in Lakeville just south of Apple Valley off Cedar Ave (Highway 77). Known for its wonderful and playful architecture, tall ceilings, beautiful wood treatments, contemporary bar and private patio.

 

This is a farm to table restaurant with all Minnesota grown products and homemade sauces.

 

We had a wonderful experience with Jen our waitress who was very knowledgeable and attentive. The menu is filled with many interest entrees, but this evening we made a meal of appetizers and finished with a desert.

 

Our appetizer choices and impressions…

Spicy Cauliflower – a popular item there – very fresh and tasty

Tenderloin bites – served with mushrooms and very tasty, but meat quality was just a little better than average

Calamari – loved it! Very fresh, not too chewy and had great flavors

Truffle fries – wonderful sauce and it was perfect (but order them very crispy to get them done right – unless you like soggy)

 

Dessert (who can resist!)

Crème Brulee Espresso – a real favorite if you like coffee taste!

Chocolate Lava Cake – perfect, just perfect

 

We had a great experience and meal took an hour. For south of the river…this is a must go to!
