The calendar says winter but we all the temperatures does not! But now is the time to address those jobs that your house will need.

Here it is split by outside and inside tasks.

Outside tasks

  • Look at your roof where you had ice dams. Be steady on a ladder, have someone hold the base, and look to see if you have any damaged or missing shingles.
  • Power wash your home to get rid of dirt and spider webs.
  • If you are up there clean out your gutters or hire someone to do it for you.
  • Turn on outside faucets and turn on the water to them inside your home.
  • Clean your AC unit. It gets clogged on the metal filters surrounding your compressor so just gentle spray that clean with your hose water.
  • Check out your deck to make sure no boards have rotted over the winter. And powerwash the dirt away.
  • Check wood exterior – doors and windows for pealing. It should be scraped, primed, and painted to match to protect the wood.
  • Have a trusted sprinkler outfit turn on your system and check heads for function and that aiming is accurate.
  • Rack and fertilize your yard.
  • Clean your grill for a summer season of grilling fun!

Inside tasks

  • Open windows to make sure they are working properly. Add screens to your windows to air out your home.
  • Change your furnace filter and furnace humidifier filter.
  • Change batteries on smoke detectors.
  • Check the landscaping lights to be sure all are working. Replace bulbs with LED for big savings in your electric bill!
  • Change filter on refrigerator water filter.
  • Reprogram your thermostat for summer conditions.
  • Clean your windows.
