Greetings,
We are beginning this school year with circumstances that none of us would have predicted a few months ago. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our normal processes and activities at the beginning of a school year have all had to be analyzed and adjusted out of concerns about the health and safety of our students and staff. Based on guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Education, the School Board approved a plan to start the 2020-2021 school year with students in prekindergarten through grade five being allowed to attend classes in-person and students in grades six through twelve going to school on a hybrid schedule, which means they attend school in-person two days per week and learn from home the other three days per week. Please remember that parents may opt for their students to learn from home using a distance learning model, which is described in the planning documents found on our website.
Although it is our plan to begin school in the model I mentioned above, it is possible that the local rates of COVID-19 infections could cause us to change models. This means students who are learning in-person may have to adjust to learning from home some days or every day. If this happens, you will receive a phone call ahead of time to alert you about the details associated with that change. We would like to give parents and staff members ample notice to make adjustments to their schedules, but it is very likely that there will be an urgent need to change to keep our students and staff safe.
