Kingsland Public Schools are committed to increasing student achievement through a cooperative and professional atmosphere while maintaining fiscal responsibility. As our district moves forward in its ongoing commitment to provide our students opportunities to be successful in our classrooms and beyond, it is my intent to keep our mission, and most importantly, the students we serve, at the center of our attention.

I am fortunate to be the Superintendent in a community that strongly values public education.  Our faculty and staff are committed to providing a quality education to our children in an effort to help them reach their fullest potential and to prepare them for their future endeavors.  We are dedicated to providing an education that not only meets the academic needs of the students, but also considers their physical, emotional, and social development.

Kingsland Public Schools offers many great programs to help your child learn and develop into a responsible, contributing citizen. We believe that every student should be challenged and supported throughout their educational career. Principals, teachers, and staff are dedicated to making a positive difference in your child’s life. It is important that you know that we believe we are partners with you in this process, and we welcome your active involvement in your son’s or daughter’s education.

In our mission to build academic excellence, Kingsland has added more technology with digital devices available for students.  Students in kindergarten through first grade have daily access to iPads, grades two through six are issued iPads, and students in grades seven through twelve have a laptop computer issued to them.  Kingsland is in the fifth year of offering the University of Minnesota’s Ramp Up To Readiness Program which incorporates college and career readiness skills for students in grades six through twelve.  We are continuing all day every day kindergarten for our younger students along with the Read 180, Reading Corp, Accelerated Reader, and System 44 to build and strengthen literacy skills for our primary and middle school students. Kingsland is a Minnesota 4 Star Parent Aware School and offers Early Learning Pathway Scholarships for families bringing educational services to our youngest learners. Kingsland is the first school in Minnesota to achieve 4 national certifications from Project Lead The Way in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Kingsland also offers the Launch Program, a national standards based STEM curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade students. At the high school, in addition to the standard curriculum, students have the opportunity to engage in rigorous curriculum choosing from 25 college semester courses totaling more than 70 college credits.  These courses cover social studies, English, math, science, agriculture, Spanish, music, technology, engineering, computer science, and biomedical science giving students the option to earn an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree at Kingsland sponsored through Riverland Community College.

It is important that you encourage your child to take advantage of all of the wonderful programs that we have here at Kingsland.  Encourage your child to do well in school, reinforce that homework is important, and let them know that you care about their good behavior and academic achievements.

All of this would not be possible without the great support of our community.  As we start this year’s journey, we are mindful of that fact and remain grateful for it.
