Visit the Foshay Tower
The building was completed in 1929, just months before the stock market crash. It has 32 floors and with the antenna has a height of 447 feet. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The address is 821 Marquette Ave.
The building was designed to echo the Washington Monument. The building uses steel and reinforced concrete. The exterior is faced with Indiana limestone, the interior has African Mahogany, Italian marble, terrazzo, gold-plated knobs, silver- and gold-plated ceilings, and beautiful ornamental bronze entrances.
There is a museum and Observation deck. It is open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm. Click here for additional information. Purchase tickets in the lobby and take the elevator to the top floor to visit a museum of the tower’s history in the roaring 20’s. Make your way to the viewing deck that wraps around the building for the most amazing Minneapolis views!
I hope this blog about a fun thing to do…visit the Foshay Tower.
