Review of The Dock in Stillwater

The Dock restaurant in Stillwater is on the shore of the St. Croix River and looks upriver to the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge. Their website is https://thedockstillwater.com. The patio, bar and all the dining rooms have amazing river views. It is located at 425 Nelson Street East in Stillwater and has a very limited amount of free parking. They are open for lunch and dinner. Their number is 651-5430-3700. It has a 4.2 rating on google reviews and 4 on TripAdvisor. Reservations are only available by calling in only and not on OpenTable.

You can dine in or take out.

The interior is very nice and open to the bar in the central dining room. The two-sided dining rooms are corner rooms, so you have plenty of window tables which are very important with this amazing view. The building is very close to the river and the patio is at the river’s edge. The patio is dog friendly, and I give a restaurant an extra half star for that wonderful feature.

The link to their dinner menu is https://thedockstillwater.com/menu/. The menu is not very extensive, but the items are fairly priced and if you include the atmosphere and view, it is a bargain. I did notice they have one steak on the menu, and it is a New York Strip, but they have a filet pictured in the photograph.

Here is we enjoyed…

  • Calamari – this is very good and not chewy, and sauce was perfect but ask for more since the portion of Calamari is enough for 4 people for an appetizer. For $22 and such a huge portion it is a value. The photograph was after the two of us ate half of it. Lol.The Dock Stillwater Calamari
  • Black Caesar salad with shrimp – nice portion of Caesar but dressing was a bit plain and seemed store bought. They had no anchovies available to add to it. The shrimp were nice size and plentiful. Salad with shrimp was $18.The Dock Stillwater Caesar
  • Classic Alfredo with shrimp – nice portion and plenty of shrimp. Served with a roll. The price of added shrimp was $18.The Dock Stillwater Alfredo
  • Happy hour is until 5pm and a glass of wine is $5 during that time.

The service was friendly but not very attentive.

I give it 4.5 stars **** out of five. The food was very good and reasonably priced, the interior is attractive, the view is breathtaking, parking can be difficult to find a spot close that is free, service is friendly but not very attentive, they have a functional website but you must call in for a reservation, prices are a bargain when you include the view, and the bathrooms were clean. I gave them an extra half star because that wonderful patio is dog friendly, and they will soon have a dog menu.
