Review of Baldamar in Roseville

The Baldamar Restaurant www.baldamar.com/ is located 1642 County Road B2 West in Roseville Minnesota. They are open seven days a week are the stand-alone building is in the parking lot of Rosedale Mall on the east side by Snelling. It has a 4.5 rating on Yelp, 4.5 on Facebook, 4.8 on OpenTable, 4.5 on TripAdvisor and 4.7 on Goggle.

This is what they say about themselves…Baldamar marks the turning point where we usher in the new standard for style, service, and steak. It means the men’s made with old-craft at its core and modern-day meat eaters in mind-with flavors forged in fire and folded into pure primal perfection. It is where every steak is aged 40 days and 40 nights for a taste of biblical proportion, and where crazy-fresh seafood means it is caught during your morning commute.

The interior of the building is very trendy and open to the bar, so you are looking at the bar crowd when you are dining. The acoustics are terrible, and it is very, very difficult to hear the server or hold a conversation during a good size crowd. This really diminished the quality of our experience since we were enjoying my daughter’s birthday.

One interesting note…They charge a 20% service fee for all parties eight or more.

Here is the dinner menu https://www.baldamar.com/dinner-1 and here is what we enjoyed…

  • Bread is life appetizer – wonderful bread served with jalapeno butter, chimichurri, and strawberry basil butter. This is a must have!
  • Brussel Sprouts – Flash fried with Asian vinaigrette and fresh peppers. This was good but too salty.
  • Wedge Salad – tomato, egg, red onion with blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese. Great salad!
  • Prime Filet Mignon – This was very good but $72.00. Good and expensive.
  • Miso Marinated Sea Bass – It was wonderful. It is the nest thing on the menu for the price. Priced at $42.00.

Prices were at the high-end of Twin Cities standards.

I give it four stars **** out of five. The food was very good, the building was nice other than seeing the bar crowd as you ate, service was good but hard to hear them talking, prices higher than competition, and sound level was too high to have a great experience.
