Although we are promoted as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”, we have 11,842 of 10 acres or more. If we said basins that held 2.5 acres or more of water, we would have 21,871! Minnesota lakes have 44,926 miles of shoreline. Which is more than the lake and coastal shorelines of California. Also, the 11,842 Lakes is more than the entire continent of Africa!
