Mound is in Hennepin county, Minnesota. Lakes in Mound include Black Lake, Dutch Lake, Lake Langdon, Saunders Lake and Lake Seton in Lake Minnetonka chain of lakes. Located 24 miles west of Minneapolis with a 29-minute commute time. It is part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area that has 3.52 million residents. Mound was formed by the recession of the last glaciation about 10,000 BC. The Treaty of Traverse des Sioux opened the Lake Minnetonka area to white settlement in 1852. Name came from the Indian mounds found there from prehistoric Indians.
