The History of Edina

Edina is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota https://www.edinamn.gov/. Edina is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The city is south of Minneapolis and offers a reasonable commute to both MPLS/St Paul. It has one of the most convenient locations in the Twin Cities. It started as a Quaker village and included African American family of civil war veterans and freed slaves. Then Irish, and settlers from England and Germany came. In 1889 they voted to create a new village called Edina.

It received A+ for public schools, A for outdoor activities, jobs and good for families. Also, for health & fitness, nightlife and commute. Some general information I have found Edina

Edina has only a commute to Saint Paul of 23 minutes. And only 13 minutes to Minneapolis. Next, it has a population of 50,603. It features 40 parks with playgrounds and trails. This includes the Lebanon Centennial Lakes Park. Which has paddle boats and lawn bowling. The unemployment rate is only 2.3%. And the median home price is $468,400. Meanwhile the median age is 44.6 years old. Lastly, the median income is $86,968.

There are some large employers in Edina

Edina is headquarters for UnitedHealthcare, Jerry’s Foods, Lund Food Holdings and Edina Realty. Also, Regis Corporation, Dairy Queen and Orange Julius. Other large employers are Southdale Center, Galleria of Edina, Fairview Southdale Hospital, BI Worldwide, Barr Engineering, SunOpta and FilmTec Corporation.

How are the schools in Edina?

My conclusion

To summarize, I have found Edina to be a very popular city. Importantly, it features highly rated schools, a wonderful location and short commute times. In addition, it has lots of parks and community activities. In short, I strongly suggest considering Edina if you’re planning on moving to the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
