The History of Eagan

Eagan is a city in Dakota County, Minnesota https://www.cityofeagan.com/. Eagan is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The city is south of Saint Paul and offers a reasonable commute to both MPLS/St Paul. And is very close to Airport terminal 1 and 2 and the Mall of America. It has one of the most convenient locations in the Twin Cities. Eagan is the 11th largest city in Minnesota. It started as an Irish farming community and established in 1860.

Is Eagan rated as a good place to live?

Niche.com rated Eagan the highest rating possible with an A+  https://www.niche.com/places-to-live/eagan-dakota-mn/. It received A+ for public schools, A for outdoor activities, jobs and good for families. Also, for health & fitness, diversity, nightlife and housing. Money magazine rated Eagan as the 11th best place to live in the United States in 2014 https://money.com/collection-post/eagan-minnesota-best-places-to-live/.

Some general information I have found Eagan

Eagan has only a commute to Saint Paul of 18 minutes. And 24 minutes to Minneapolis. Next, it has a population of 66,102. It features many parks with playgrounds and trails. This includes the Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Which has 1,869 acres and is the largest Park in Dakota County. The unemployment rate is only 2.3%. And the median home price is $310,200. Meanwhile the median age is 37.8 years old. Lastly, the median income is $80,247.

There are some large employers in Eagan

 

Eagan is home to the legal publisher “West” which is part of Thomson Reuters. It has about 7,300 employees. Also, Blue Cross Blue Shield with 3,900 employees. Ecolab employs 1,200 there. In addition, there is Scantron and Coca-Cola Midwest bottling facility and those each have just under 1,000 employees. Lastly, Minnesota’s largest UPS hub is there with 1,400 employees.

Businesses headquartered in Eagan include Regional Elite Airline Services, Universal Cooperatives and Buffet, Inc. Also, the headquarters and training facility for the Minnesota Vikings is in Eagan.

How are the schools in Eagan?

My conclusion

To summarize, I have found Eagan to be a very popular city. Importantly, it features highly rated schools and a wonderful location. In addition, it has lots of parks and community activities. In short, I strongly suggest considering Eagan if you’re planning on moving to the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
