Burnsville is in Dakota County, Minnesota. Located 15 miles south of Minneapolis. City lies on the south bank of the Minnesota River. Features the Burnsville Mall, Alimagnet Park and Dog Park, a portion of Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve and the ski peak Buck Hill. It is the ninth largest suburb in the metro area. Burnsville downtown, which is called the “Heart of the City”, features the popular Ames Performing Arts Center. The name Burnsville is attributed to an early settler and landowner, William Byrne. His surname was recorded as “Burns” and was never corrected. The Mdewakanton Dakota were the original inhabitants.

Burnsville has a population of 61,302. The unemployment rate is only 3.3%. And the median home price is $284,700. Meanwhile the median age is 36.4. Lastly, the median income is $63,997. Has a commute time of only 21 minutes to Minneapolis. Those are just a few reasons why Burnsville real estate is in high demand.

How are the schools in Burnsville?

There are three school districts that serve Burnsville Minnesota.

1) Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District # 191. Niche.com rated it a “B”. It received B’s or for academics, teachers, clubs & activities, diversity, college prep, and sports.

2) Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District #196. Niche.com rated it an “A” and the best school district in Dakota County. It received A’s for academics, teachers, clubs & activities, administration, college prep, health & safety, and sports.

3) Lakeville Public School District # 194. Niche.com rated it an “A”. Says it is the 2nd best school district in Dakota County. It received A’s for academics, clubs & activities, food, college prep, health & safety, and sports.

 

My conclusion

To summarize, I have found Burnsville to be a popular city. Importantly, it has wonderful Minneapolis and St. Paul access, great amenities,

schools and is highly rated in many categories. In short, I strongly suggest considering Burnsville if you are planning on moving to the Twin Cities of Minnesota. I know I like it…I live there!
