Afton is a city in Washington county, Minnesota. City Website. Afton is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It is a second-tier suburb. Located on a small bay where Valley Creek flows into the St. Croix River. Just up from where the St. Croix River empties into the Mississippi River.
First settlers arrived in Afton in 1837. Name is from a poem by Robert Burns called “Sweet Afton”. A post office began service in 1857.
