Chaska Minnesota Rated 8th Best Place to Live

Is Chaska rated as a good place to live?

We now find this quaint city to be in demand.  It was rated the 8th best place to live by Money magazine in 2007 and the 20th best in 2009 by CNN/Money Magazine.

The History of Chaska

This was Sioux Indian country. In 1851 the Treaty of Traverse des Sioux was signed.  This treaty opened the area to settlement. The name “Chaska” is derived from an Indian name given the first male child “shaska”.  By 1857 Chaska was a thriving brick manufacturing center. This was because of the high quality area clay. It was shipping bricks by steamboat to St. Paul and it was a booming industry.

Some general information I have found about Chaska

The population of Chaska is 25,578 and I have always enjoyed the wonderful downtown with it’s charm and central park. In addition, this is a River town located on the Minnesota River. I have found the commute of 21 miles to Minneapolis to take about 30 minutes. What else did I find?…The median home price is $310,000. Median income is $76,301. Average age is 36.1. Unemployment rate is very low at 2.5%. Lastly, Chaska has appreciated 6.2% over the last year.

I have seen some great golf in Chaska

What a pleasure to have been there for the Ryder Cup in 2016 at Hazeltine National Golf Course in Chaska! It is such a wonderful venue for golf tournaments.  The US Women’s open was played there in 1966. Men’s PGA US Open in 1970. US Open again 1977. 1983 US Senior Open.  Once again the 1991 US Open.  And the PGA Championships in 2002 and 2009. I went to the both PGA Championships and it was well planned and spectator friendly. In addition, this year I had the pleasure of watching the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Also, the Ryder Cup will be returning to Hazeltine in 2028.

What other things have I found fun to do in Chaska?

Located right next to Chaska Minnesota is the Renaissance Festival. I visit this wonderful event yearly. Just recently I went during the “bring your dog” weekend. We both great time with all the other pet owners. This 16th century English theme village has 16 stages of interesting entertainment. 250 artisans that display their handcrafted wares. Hundreds of food venters. I especially like the smoked turkey drumsticks. In addition, hundreds of staff are dressed the part! But not to be outdone many visitors also dress the part. In other words, I have found it to be a delightful step back in time!

My conclusion.

To summarize. I have found that Chaska Minnesota has lots of charm, a great downtown, great schools and plenty of fun things to do!  In other words I suggest considering Chaska if your planning on moving to the Minneapolis and St Paul area in Minnesota.
