Wayzata Public Schools District 284 is a top rated, public school district. It has 10,958 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 17 to 1. and state test scores, 82% of students are at least proficient in math and 79% in reading.

Westonka Public School District 277 is a highly rated, public school district located in Minnetrista, MN. It has 2,319 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 18 to 1. State test scores, 83% of students are at least proficient in math and 82% in reading.

Wolfs field Woods is a Nature Conservancy. Furthermore, it is a protected forest of a variety of mature hardwood tree species covering gently rolling hills.  Visit in late spring and experience the woodland bursting with colorful blooms.  Bring your camera or your easel and paints!

As you wander the walking trails of Wood-Rill you will climb the steep hills of the St. Croix Moraine under a canopy of red and white oak, basswood, sugar maple, and older butternut trees. Travel downward into an area of wetlands including ponds, meadows, a lake, and swamps.  With the beautiful colors of spring and summer wildflowers, the brilliant display in fall, or the quiet serene beauty of snow and ice in winter, this is an area to enjoy for all seasons.

 

 

History

Orono’s history dates back to 1858 when Minnesota became a state. Even more western Hennepin County was surveyed and divided into townships. All of Orono south of Watertown Road was located in Excelsior Township, with the area north of Watertown Road being located in Medina Township.

Furthermore, the separate Township of Orono was created out of the southern half of Medina on April 9, 1889. Most noteworthy, the name Orono was brought to the area by Major George Brackett. Major Brackett was a native of Orono, Maine. He was also who first used it to designate Brackett’s Point.
