Greetings from Tracy Area Public Schools,
I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as the superintendent of Tracy Area Public Schools. Tracy Area Public Schools consists of the communities of Balaton, Tracy, Amiret, Garvin, Currie, Lake Sarah, and Lake Shetek. Each community plays an important role in supporting our proud district, which has a reputation for excellence in education and extra-curricular activities.
Tracy Area Public Schools has four separate buildings which provide services ranging from day care for infants to college/vocational level courses for high school students.
TAPS supports Tracy Kids World which is an on campus child development center in the Little Panther Den that offers infant, toddler, and before/after school programs for children up to age 12. The Little Panther Den also includes a Head Start Program for pre-school age students along with the Little Panthers Pre-School. Balaton also has a Little Panther Den which has a pre-school program for the children in our district.
Tracy Area Elementary School offers a Transition Kindergarten program which is available for children five years of age who are eligible to attend kindergarten but are not academically or socially ready. TAES also provides all day every day kindergarten with class sizes around 16 which include one full time para-professional in each class. The TAES building is located directly next to the Little Panther’s Den. Class sizes are generally ranging from 15-20 in the lower grades to 22-24 in the upper grades five and six.
Tracy Area High School prides itself on our small class sizes, a variety of Advanced Placement Courses, College Courses, Vocational Curriculum, and a strong Fine Arts Program. TAPS also offers social and emotional support to our students along with a wide range of before and after-school academic support. TAHS offers all the opportunities of a large school in a small school environment.
The TAPS Board, Teachers, All Staff, and Administration work together to promote innovation. We are very fortunate to have 1:1 mobile computers in grades K-12. All students in grades K-2 have individual access to iPads and students in grades 3-12 each are issued a laptop.
TAPS also utilizes “Schoology” software for our learning management system. This software provides teachers an avenue to post assignments, tests, quizzes, group work, textbooks, and many other materials. Students can complete and submit their assignments using the “Schoology” software. The laptop allows students to access assignments, textbooks, other students, and teachers anytime and anywhere. TAPS buses are equipped with Wi-Fi internet access using “Hot Spots” so students on long bus rides to and from school or to school sponsored activities can also access assignments and teacher’s materials. Internet “Hot Spots” may also be checked out by students who do not have internet available at home.
Small class sizes, innovative technology, a wide variety of curriculum opportunities, strong school board leadership, and a dedicated and passionate staff make TAPS a wonderful place to learn and grow! Together, the school board, staff, and community place a high priority on student success in a family like atmosphere. Once a Panther Always a Panther!
