Visit the Minnesota State Fair

Minnesota State Fair is known as “The Great Minnesota Get-Together”. It is the largest state fair in the United States by average daily attendance. And the second-largest state fair in the United States by total attendance! The state fair of Texas is the only one that is larger, but it runs twice as long as the Minnesota State Fair. The state fair grounds are in Falcon Heights adjacent to the Saint Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota. The Minnesota State Fair was named the best state fair in the United States in 2015 by the readers of USA Today.

The fair runs from August 26th to Labor Day, September 6th, 2021. In 2019 2,126.551 attended it. The fair was canceled in 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic.

The Minnesota Territory first held a Territorial Fair in 1854. The Minnesota State fair did not start until 1859 when that year it became a state.

One of the most significant dates in the fair’s history was September 2, 1901 when then-Vice President Theodor Roosevelt was visiting and first said that famous phrase “Speak softly and carry a big stick”. 12 days later Roosevelt became President when William McKinley was assassinated.

What does the fair have?

Livestock.

Lots of food.

Machinery Hill.

Shows and big-name concerts.

Art.

Science exhibit.

Lots and lots of rides!

Tickets for concerts

I have been their countless times and it is fun for the entire family
