How popular is it?
Since it opened in 1992 it is the most popular mall in North America. It has over 42 million annual visitors a year. Which is eight times the popular of the entire state of Minnesota! Has 38,810 Google reviews with a 4.6 rating. The highest rating I have EVER seen for a mall! And this many reviews! How big is it?
It has a gross area of 4,870,000 square feet or 96.4 acres. It is nearly symmetric and in a rectangular floor plan. It has over 530 stores. Parking is located around the building and is free.
The Future
An indoor water park has been recently approved. At a cost of over $250 million. It will have 335,000 finished square feet and be one of the largest water parks in North America. Opening in 2022.
In addition, the MOA just redid all of its Movie CMX Theatres and entertainment area.
What are some of the major attractions
Here are but a few….
Nickelodeon Universe – It is the nation’s largest indoor theme park. Home to seven acres of unique attractions, entertainment and dining. Lots of amazing rides.
Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium – Minnesota’s largest aquarium. Has thousands of sea creatures. Including sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, jellyfish and more! Has a 300 foot long ocean tunnel. It is a wonderful ocean adventure.
FlyOver America – is a flight simulator ride that has a breathtaking aerial tour of some of the greatest landmarks in the United States. The attraction is a fully immersive experience. With wind, mist and even scents!
What else?
The list is almost endless…but what about over 60 restaurants. A 13 screen movie theatre, mini-golf, arcades and the nation’s longest indoor zip line. Or roller coasters or 5D extreme attraction by Matrix Technology. There are hotel connected to the Mall of America so you can have an extended stay and try to see everything.
In conclusion
This is where I do most of my shopping! And I suggest this for anyone who wants to experience something very special. So much to do…it is one of the great destinations in all of North America! Something you must do is visit the Mall of America
