We visited the German restaurant Winzer Stube and this is my review.
The Winzer Stube Restaurant was opened in 1999. Located in the lower level of the Historic Opera House in Hudson, Wisconsin. Address is 516 Second Street in Hudson. Importantly, it was given the honor of being one of the top 5 German Restaurants in the United States. It has a 4.7 Goggle rating with 603 reviews. Also, 4.5 out of 5 rating from Yelp with 172 reviews.
Our impressions
This is my favorite German Restaurant in the greater Minnesota area. Charming basement, cellar atmosphere. In fact, it feels like a step back in time. So, the food is reasonably priced in the 15-30 dollar range. But the quality is second to none. At the same time the service is timely and pleasant. The bar has many German beer selections. We found the circular booths to be big and inviting. In truth, it is hard to find its match unless you go to Deutschland.

Here is our selections and impressions.
Cream of Mushroom Soup
This is a real favorite of mine. Unfortunately, it is a seasonal offering. Truly one of the best mushroom soups I have ever had. Also, served with their fresh beard. Thus, dipping is an attractive option.
Schlemmertopf “Weiskirchen”
So that translates to three grilled beef tenderloins. In a creamy wine sauce with mushrooms. And served in a kettle with spaetzle. My tenderloins were cooked perfectly medium rare. Also had delicious red cabbage. All that for $29.00 was a delightful bargain.
Leber “Berliner Art”
That is beef liver that is thickly cut and served like a steak. They actually ask you how you would like it done. On top is fried apples and onions. Furthermore, it is served with chive mashed potatoes and red and white cabbage. If you are a liver lover, like me, this is the best you will find!
The Dessert
Raspberry Bread Pudding
Ok, hold the phone! Above all, you must order this. In short, this is the best bread pudding on the planet. Every bite was as good as the first and hot until the end. In other words, go there and order this even if you only want dessert!
Our Drinks
Equally important to some are the German beers they offer. So, you wouldn’t of been disappointed since in honor of Octoberfest they had many wonderful offerings.
Would I go there again?
Of course. Wasn’t my first time and certainly will not be my last. Therefore, I recommend you try it even if you don’t know if you like German food.
